Newtown and Newlands

Client: Mabec

Value: £4million

Newtown and Newlands

A former office tower, the 60,000sq ft Newland House was purchased unconditionally by Mabec in Nottingham’s main business area. The prominent building fronts Maid Marian Way and has panoramic views over the city.

Mabec obtained planning consent to reclad the façade and convert the building into 224 student studios.

Our works included investigating and testing to prove structural adequacy for the client’s proposed new loadings (from office to student accommodation) and review historical calculations and intrusive investigations to determine the original structure.

Added Value

We had to have a complete understanding of the commercial aspects of the project and the client’s need to reuse as much of the existing building and materials as possible.
