Our History

Millward was established in 1993 by Terry Millward, mainly to support the quarry industry but also to provide exceptional client care and value engineering solutions which promote achievable and buildable results. These values still remain today and are responsible for our strapline – Different through Design.

1993

The business was established as Millward Associates – with two staff working from an office in Beeston. Key clients included Hanson and Tarmac

1995

Our name changes to The Millward Partnership and becomes a Limited company. We start working with long-term client, National Grid

2002

The office, now employing 11 staff, moves to a larger office at Phoenix Business Park. We begin working on large scale student accommodation projects across the UK – a sector we’re still working within today

2003

Managing Director Nicola Millward joins the team as Office Manager, and begins working alongside father, Terry, to learn how the business works

2004

Nicola sees a massive gap and the lack of networking opportunities for women within the industry and establishes Women in Construction – a group which is still active today

2009

The office moves to Nottingham City Centre. We start a relationship with Chinook Sciences – a relationship which still exists and cements our expertise within the waste to energy sector

2014

To provide a more financially secure and stable environment for the business, we buy our own premises in the Lace Market, Nottingham.

2015

We begin working with one of our major clients, Clowes Developments – providing civil and structural solutions for their business parks, with buildings varying from a children’s nursery to a food manufacturing building

2016

Millward now employs 16 people – and is proud to have a high -level staff retention percentage

2018

To celebrate our 25th birthday – we are the headline sponsor of event Hot Property; treating many clients, staff and business contacts to a great night out. Nicola Millward also resigns as trustee for the long-standing event, which raised a staggering £19,000 for charity PASIC in 2018

2019

Millward’s turnover reaches £1.5 million across three teams providing a client-focused approach – we employ 18 people

2020

We’re marking a year of change; we rebrand, are refurbishing our office and have plans for further organic growth. Our offer extends of Traffic and Transport.

2022

In response to gaining work in the area, we open an office in central Birmingham

2023

Millward proudly celebrates 30 years of success with a year-long series of festivities, including a special 30th birthday party in October. This significant year also saw us relocating to a larger office at Nottingham Science and Technology park.  Along with the celebrations we also unveiled our latest venture – the launch our new Traffic and Transportation service, complemented by a dedicated team.
