Millward provided the Caddick team with specialist support in the development of the detailed design for highways and drainage infrastructure. The scope of work included ensuring that all services were meticulously designed in accordance with the latest industry standards and regulatory requirements while also considering site levels, topographical constraints, and retaining structures to optimize land use. Structural services included facilitating the super and substructure design for various house types across the site with a total of 99 plots. We also reviewed architectural drawings of each house type and assess them to the requirements of the building regulations Part A and buildability of each floor level. Load analysis of each house-type’s superstructure was completed to allow the design of the substructure.
Added Value
A key component of the drainage strategy is a tanked attenuation system, which incorporates both a permeable carriageway and an innovative under-drained filter system designed to efficiently capture and manage surface water runoff. This advanced drainage solution enhances sustainability by improving water infiltration and reducing flood risks. Notably, the under-drained filter system is one of the first of its kind to be officially adopted by Yorkshire Water, marking a significant milestone in modern drainage engineering.
