Supporting the Royal Navy since 1691, Devonport is the largest naval base in Western Europe. The site covers more than 650 acres and has 15 dry docks, four miles of waterfront, five tidal berths and five basins.

Millward provided civil and structural design work on the dock yard boiler house as well as making the required changes and improvements to the boiler house itself.

We formed two new manually operated roller shutter doors in the central bays to facilitate the replacement of the boilers, plus a personnel door to one of the outer bays.The external concrete/brick plinths were removed at the new door positions and the cladding was replaced to the elevation below the truss level.

Great care was taken to ensure that all the engineering designs fully matched the client’s brief.
