Dutch Science Facility

This is a new build of a Science Facility in The Antarctic, which Millward were appointed to undertake the structural engineering design for.
The scheme comprised a steel portal frame building housing four highly insulated and individually serviced containers with weld mesh deck floor, clad with Kingspan sandwich panel and supported on mass concrete pad foundations.

Each container unit was lifted into the building by an A Frame lifting gantry that is removable and reusable for all the containers.

Added Value

Special consideration was given to the remote location of the development and the need to ensure all necessary materials were delivered by ship for construction.
