This summer, the Millward team came together at Centre Parcs Nottinghamshire for our 2026 Alignment Day, providing an opportunity to reflect on the progress of the business, align on our future direction and ensure the whole team understands the part they play in our continued development.
Our previous Alignment Day was held in 2023 and much has changed since then. Over the past three years, Millward’s team has grown by approximately 70%, taking us to a team of 22. With new people, developing leadership roles and ambitious plans for the future, we felt it was important to bring everyone together to establish a shared understanding of where the business is heading.
As Millward continues to grow and evolve, maintaining the culture and values that have shaped the business remains a priority. Transparency, collaboration and shared goals are central to the way we work, and our Alignment Day provided an important opportunity for the wider team to understand our plans, contribute to discussions and recognise how their individual roles support our wider objectives.
As part of our continued investment in our people, Millward has recently partnered with People Puzzles to support the development of our team and emerging leaders. Ben from People puzzle joined us for the day, helping to facilitate discussions and activities focused on strengthening communication, leadership and collaboration across the business. For our Managing Director, Nicola Millward, developing people from within the business has always been important. However, providing opportunities for progression is only one part of that commitment. As team members take on greater responsibility and move into leadership positions, it is equally important that they are provided with the appropriate training, guidance and support to succeed. Our partnership with People Puzzles will help us build on this approach, supporting our people as they develop their leadership capabilities and ensuring the business has the skills and structure required for its next stage of growth.
The morning focused on Millward’s future, giving the team greater insight into our plans, priorities and ambitions for the coming years. It also provided an opportunity for open discussion, allowing colleagues from across the business to contribute their perspectives and develop a clearer understanding of our shared objectives. Following the morning session, the team took part in an Adventure Quest across Centre Parcs. The activities encouraged colleagues to work together in a different environment, communicate effectively and step outside their usual roles and comfort zones. It was particularly rewarding to see colleagues supporting one another throughout the challenges, with the experience helping to strengthen relationships across different areas and levels of the business.
The day also provided an opportunity to consider how far Millward has come since the business was established in 1993 as a one-person consultancy. More than three decades later, Millward has developed into a growing integrated engineering consultancy with a team of 22. While the size and capabilities of the business have evolved significantly, our focus remains on achieving sustainable growth while continuing to invest in our people, our clients and the quality of the services we provide. Our progress is not measured solely by the growth of the business. The development of our people is equally important, and the Alignment Day highlighted how individuals across Millward have progressed, taken on new responsibilities and contributed to shaping the business we are today.
The 2026 Alignment Day represents the beginning of the next chapter for Millward, now it’s time to put those plans into action.
